Many States in the US are challenged by a scrap tire problem.   Over 225 million scrap tires are generated annually in the US; nearly 1 for every US citizen.  Furthermore, approximately 750 million tires are stockpiled in registered tire storage facilities throughout the nation. 

 

Road construction uses for products manufactured from recycled, tire-derived material are a common sense solution that should be a part of every State's overall tire recycling strategy.  Utilizing rubberized products, derived from recycled tires, will have a positive life-cycle cost-benefit ratio and provide actual engineering and construction benefits.
